The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has slammed the? federal government over its proposed withdrawal of subsidy from petroleum products as well as its carefree attitude towards the ongoing nationwide strike by the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU).
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, publicity secretary of ACN in Rivers State, Mr. Jerry Needam, described the PDP government at all levels in the country as ineffective and insensitive to the suffering of the Nigerian people.
Needam stated that the system has collapsed and Nigerians were in for the worst since the federal government, controlled by the PDP had failed in carrying out its primary functions of securing lives and property as well as guaranteeing the welfare of the citizens.
He noted with disdain the appearance of long queues at the filling stations due to apprehension caused by the proposed withdrawal of fuel subsidy, the rising spate of kidnapping and armed robbery cases as well as hired killings, saying that it was a mark of a confused and failed government.
The party accused federal government officials of plotting to destroy the country’s educational system, since all their children and wards were schooling overseas, lamenting that the closure of universities in the country had become a tradition.
