Northern Youths under the auspices of Arewa Youth Forum (AYF), yesterday, warned Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole to stop playing politics with the death of former President Umaru Yar’Adua. The group also told him to stop abusing the sensibilities of the former president’s family and reasonable Nigerians who have been following recent political developments in the country.
The Arewa Youths were reacting to comments allegedly made by the governor over the generosity of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to him, especially in pursuing his governorship ambition, at the launching of a book by Segun Adeniyi, claiming the late president gave him financial support to pursue his governorship ambition.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna, the national president of the forum, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu said, “The governor should not play politics with the death of late President Yar’Adua, or what is he portraying the late Yar’Adua to be?
“The implication is that Yar’Adua was not a sincere party member of his party the PDP, and how does he want the PDP in Edo and in the country to perceive the? late president in death? When Yar’Adua was alive and particularly when his condition got critical, what role did Oshiomhole play at that moment? Was he not the one that was attacking Yar’Adua and calling his party the PDP, fraud party and so on?
“Why has he not immortalised him after he died? Why is it that he failed to say so all this while, but chose to play to the gallery about a man who suffered terribly of Nigerian hypocrisy and quest for power by almost all sides?
