The Ekiti State government is set to start exploiting the abundant mineral resources spread across the 16 local government areas of the state.
The state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, made the disclosure weekend at his Isan Ekiti country home during the celebration of the town’s annual Unity Day and fund raising for the construction of an ultra modern palace.
The governor said that the move was part of his administration’s efforts meant to empower the grass root populace and to develop their community, noting that it would serve as bedrock upon which the establishment of industries would be based which would in turn create jobs for the unemployed youths in the state. He added that it would as well trigger the expansion of the economic chain, with a multiplier effect on the local economy.
