Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has called on women to champion the campaign against the rising crime rate in the nation.
Okorocha, who made this call at the annual Imo Women Day celebration held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, remarked that youths would always listen to their mothers to eschew violent acts such as killing, kidnapping and robbery.
He said that his administration had braced up to stamp out corruption in governance, protect the life and property of the citizenry and provide for the basic needs of all.
The governor further pledged to always assist them to be more effective in nurturing the family and society in general.
The governor’s wife and organizer of the event, Nkechi, noted that the event was a platform for women to position themselves in value re-orientation towards playing their roles in the government’s rescue mission.
