The Governor of Niamey Region, Aishatu Kane Bulama has explained the reason for the recent award of Grand Officer of the National Order of Niger,GONON, second highest merit award in Niger Republic, to the Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema.
Bulama told newsmen that the award was in recognition of the developmental strides of the Governor as well as in appreciation of his efforts in providing essential services to thepeople of Katsina State “including those at the border communities.”
She said that the Katsina State Governor has shown commitment in strengthening the relationship between Niger republic and Nigeria and stressed that the award was “both a recognition and appreciation of his good works.
“He has been in the fore front of rendering support to neighbouring communities once the need for such arises and his infrastructural development initiative has led to the provision of good governance in Katsina.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Architect Musa Sada described the award as “a clear indication of the regards the country has for the governor”and noted? that it would strengthen ties between the two countries.
Our correspondent reported that eminent personalities from Katsina State came in their numbers to witness the investiture which was part of activities to mark the 53rd independence anniversary of Niger Republic.
