The Federal Government is to beef up security in churches and mosques in the country to forestall attacks by terrorists, Minister of Police Affairs Caleb Olubolade, has said.
Olubolade announced this on Sunday in Madalla in Niger State while inspecting the bombed St Theresa Catholic Church in the area.
The two bomb exploded in front of the church at about 8.10 a.m. shortly after the early morning mass.
Olubolade condemned the bomb blast and vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to book.
“It is now clear that places of worship like churches and mosques are increasingly becoming targets of attacks. We need to provide security accordingly,” he said.
The minister called on Nigerians to be vigilant and security conscious as “government takes steps to beef up security”.
Alhaji Ibrahim Maishanu, the Police Commission in Niger, has confirmed that no few than 12 persons, including three policemen, lost their lives in the blast.
