Kano Kano State? chapter of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to tackle the current security challenges? in the country.
The call was contained in a Christmas message, issued by Chief Tobias Idika, the president of the chapter in Kano on Sunday.
Idika stressed the need for President Goodluck Jonathan to take the issue of security very seriously to ensure lasting peace in the country.
“We wish to use this opportunity to call on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, take the issue of security very seriously.
He expressed the organisation’s deep sorrow over the demise of Ikemba Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu.
Idika also advised Christians in the country to continue to live in peace with their Muslim counterparts for continuous peace, unity, progress and development of the country.
“We urge all Christians to use this festive period to offer prayers for 2012 to be a peaceful year.’’
