Police Commissioners, Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders will hence-forth be held responsible for attacks in their domain.
? The Assistant Inspector General of Police zone 12, Mr. Muhammad Dikko Abubakar stated this yesterday in Bauchi State during his familiarization visit to the state command.
The AIG who admitted that the police are currently faced with numerous challenges that include limited logistics, facilities, welfare and are operating in a harsh environment said the force is fed up with seeing its officers being killed or police stations and banks attacked by terrorists.
“I want to warn you all that you should not because of the challenges bedeviling the Nigerian police abdicate your responsibilities. We can no longer fold our arms and watch criminals killing innocent citizens and burning police stations, attacking and looting banks unchallenged’’, he said.
Abubakar? therefore urged? all the police chiefs in the state to fortify the security network around their stations, banks and government establishments in order to prevent terrorist attacks and ensure the security of lives and property of the public.
He? expressed the force commitment towards eradicating corruption among its officers so as to enable them face the task of surmounting the security problems in the country.
The AIG also called on the general public to complement the effort of the police by giving useful information about criminal activities occurring in the society adding that security is a collective responsibility.
Earlier the commissioner of police Bauchi state command, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba lamented that most of the police divisions in the state are not fenced pointing out that this is why they are being attacked easily by the hoodlums.
