Former Oyo State governor, Otunba Chistopher? Alao-Akala has declared? that he would not? maliciously? criticize his successor in office, as there is a better forum to speak to him.
Alao-Akala, who spoke with reporters in his Ogbomoso country home on Christmas Day, stated that by virtue of his previous office, he is now a statesman who should not indulge in public criticism of his successor or any government policy.
The former governor who was told to assess the Ajimobi administration in the last 250 days said:
“I am now a statesman by virtue of my previous position and, by that, I won’t criticize the administration as you want me to do. If I have any matter of interest, I know how to pass such across to him.”
But when reminded that the succeeding administration had severally faulted his policies, Alao-Akala said, “Ajimobi criticism of my policies is a product of his being naïve and inexperienced.
Even when I succeeded Senator Rasidi Ladoja, I did not criticize as they are doing now.”
The former governor however described life after office as pleasant, saying that he is now free from the encumbrance of office, and now has time for his business and his family.
