The chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Micah Jiba has said that the Karu, Nyanya markets when completed would be world class markets.
Jiba disclosed this yesterday, at the council’s end of year press briefing. He said his administration had concluded arrangement to relocate the traders in the market to temporal sites at Gbagalape, pending the completion of the two markets.
The AMAC Boss explained that the council deemed it necessary to upgrade markets in the council because residents of AMAC need befitting markets which he said was part of his campaign promises.
“We are not trying to frustrate the Karu and Nyanya traders, but to provide world class markets to AMAC residents at cheaper rates that will serve them better than the old markets for the economic emancipation of the council.
“As a leader, you must have the people in mind and must serve them well. So, we have partnered with many investors to ensure fast jobs and after we build these markets they will be given to the same traders in Nyanya and Karu,” he added.
