As part of the commission’s effort to reduce accidents to the barest minimum during the new year festivities,the Osun State Sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has release its hot lines that could be called in case of accident, traffic jam and other road-related problems.
The Sector Commander, Mrs. Aderonke Daniel, listed the emergency lines: 080 -7769 – 0568; 080- 7769 – 0362 ,080 – 7769 – 0111 and? 080 – 7769 – 0272 and 0700-2255-3772, a national hotline that would receive prompt attention at the FRSC headquarters, Abuja.
She stated that the primary function of FRSC was ensure appreciable reduction of accident on the roads, and said that the sector’s effort was being complemented by the arrival of some officers from the headquarters, who are in the state during the Yuletide for 24-hour intensive patrol.
?The special patrol, tagged “Operation Zero Tolerance to Traffic Jam and Fatalities,’ started on December 20 and will end on January 8.
“We have been enlightening the road users to avoid accident-inducing actions.These actions are over speeding, dangerous driving/overtaking, overloading, using handset on the wheel, drinking or smoking substances while driving, night traveling, using of worn out tyres and vehicles not properly maintained, impatience, driving against traffic, fatigue and others,” she stated.
The sector commander listed factors that caused accidents as human,environmental and mechanical, and said that man should get the best out of the remaining factors by driving safely.
