A housewife, Mrs. Chioma Dike, yesterday narrated how the preparation of a special meal saved her from being killed with her husband and three children during the Christmas Day bomb blast at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, near Suleja.
Visibly depressed and shocked, Chioma told LEADERSHIP that she would have been in the church with her husband and five children but she was instructed by her husband, Dike, to prepare a delicious meal for them to celebrate the special day.
Chioma, who said she had been married to Dike for 30years, explained that as instructed by her husband, she stayed behind at home but the next thing she heard of was the blast which consumed her loved ones.
The mother of five added that the most valued possessions of her life, the husband and children, had gone and the vacuum created was so huge that she could not imagine how to move on with life.
She said that her children, two girls and three boys, were inside the car being driven by their father on their way home when the bomb exploded.
Chioma said, “I am still searching for my husband and the children, the oldest of my sons is about 12 years old while the youngest, Emmanuel, is four years old.”
She however claimed that her only hope was that two of the five children, Favour and Martins, survive. They have been on admission at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital, Abuja.
“I was told that, Favour, my daughter, is alive and talking but I have not seen her. I have, however,? seen my son on the television with part of his face bandaged. I want to see my daughter; I want to see all my children and my husband.”
