A former Governor of Abia, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged?individuals and corporate bodies to?compliment government efforts in providing infrastructural facilities to enhance socio-economic development.
Kalu made the call on Thursday while inaugurating a community hall donated to Amaofufe Igbere community by?Chief Madukwe Ukaegbu.
He noted that most developed nations of the world attained the status through selfless contributions of their citizens and transparent administration of the government.
Kalu said he was proud of the donor for his love for his people and urged other Nigerians to emulate the good virtue for faster development of the nation.
The former governor said his recent political experience was not an end to his sojourn in politics.
“When something happens to a man, he usually retreats and gets stronger before another outing,” Kalu said.
Kalu contested the Abia North senatorial seat on the platform of the PPA, but lost to Sen. Uche Chukwumerije of the PDP in the April 2011 elections.
Kalu donated N200,000 for?the provision of seats in the hall.
The donor of the hall said he started the construction in 2007, with the support of his parents and wife, to provide a befitting meeting place for the community.
The President-General of the community, Mr Onwubiko Ukaegbu, commended the donor for the gesture, saying the cost of the hall was a nightmare to the people of the area.?
