Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo yesterday presented a budget proposal of N93, 385, 150, 000 billion for the 2012 fiscal year to the House of Assembly.? The budget which is made up of N55, 120, 650, 000.00 billion as capital expenditure and N38,364, 050, 000.00 billion as recurrent expenditure.? The Governor said tht it was geared towards meeting the aspirations of the State of becoming one of the most developed by the year 2020.
Governor Dankwambo? said that the budget was prepared taking into consideration the situation report and findings of the twelve special committees set up at the inception of the administration in June 2011 which assessed the situation on ground and submitted an action plan to the Government.
He added that, alleviation of poverty through job creation, enhanced access to quality education and skills development through the improvement of the educational institutions at the state and local government levels focusing on primary, secondary and tertiary institutions would be the main thrust of the budget.
Dankwanbo said that, provision of sustainable access to potable water and basic sanitation, enhancement of access to quality health care, provision of affordable housing and improved access to micro credit would be given attention.
The Governor stated further that the budget was aimed at achieving promotion of gender equality and women empowerment, provision of infrastructure such as rural and urban roads, and electricity to enhance movement of people, goods and services and stimulate economic activities.
