A coalition of civil society groups comprising of the Nigerian Labour Congress, (NLC), Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists,(NUJ), Edo? State Chapter, yesterday, urged Nigerians to troop out en masse? to reject the planned removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
The group, which met at the NUJ, Benin Secretariat, also carpeted successive governments for inflicting pains on the masses through subsidy removal and resolved not to go back on its plan to resist the move by the Jonathan administration.
NLC Edo State Chapter led by Comrade Emmanuel Ademokun and the ASUU zonal coordinator, Dr Sunday Ighodalo, jointly said that removal of the subsidy was no solution to the myriads of problems confronting the nation but a grand move by the privileged elites to further punish the already suffering masses.
