2012: Governor Imoke Assures Nigerians Of Better Days

Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has assured the citizenry that their welfare will be given top most priority in the scheme of governance in 2012. This was contained in the governor’s new year message signed by the Special Assistant, Media Affairs and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Omini Oden, adding that while government has strived in 2011 in initiating programmes that touched on the lives of the less privileged, it will not relent in exploring more avenues in ensuring that such initiatives comes to fruition to achieve the purpose it was designed for.

He enumerated some of the programmes and projects to include, Project Hope and Comfort, construction of rural access that has added so much value to their farm produce, comprehensive renovation and furnishing of public schools as well as the training of teachers in line with the current trends, the recent disbursement of agricultural loans to farmers to boost food production will be sustained while continuing to allow the private sector to be the major driver of the state economy.

In his words, “In spite of all these achievements, there is so much work left to be done.?? We shall roll-up our sleeves and get the work done.? As we ease into 2012, we shall keep faith with the fundamental objectives and directive principles guarding this administration”, maintaining that he will pursue with all means the full implementation of the state’s development blue print.
