The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Rivers State Chapter, says it has withdrawn from further participation in the deliberations of the committee set up by the Federal Government on fuel subsidy removal.
The state Chairman of the Congress, Mr Chika Onuegbu, disclosed this in a statement made available to the reporters in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
He said that the TUC took the decision in protest against the sudden removal of the subsidy by the Federal Government, adding that the measure is inimical to the welfare of the people.
The labour leader said that the union would engage in further dialogue with the Federal Government on the issue only after it had agreed to restore the price of petroleum back to N65 per litre.
?“We maintain our position that government must first reverse the price of fuel to N65 per litre before we can be part of any discussion or dialogue.”?
