The crisis in the Bauchi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party [PDP] has taken a new dimension as the present leadership of the party and the supporters of former Governor of the State, Alhaji Ahmed Mu’azu, who is now aspiring for the national chairmanship seat of the party, clash.
It would be recalled that the State secretary of the party, Alhaji Sama’ila Burga, had earlier said that the former Governor is not a member of the party and alleged that he indulged in anti-party activities during the last election. This was even as he insisted that Mu’azu could not therefore be endorsed by the state chapter as its candidate for the number one seat of the party.
Burga also said that since after the 2011 polls, the former governor had not visited the state secretariat of the party and added that he must renew his membership before he could be recognised in the state.
But associates of the former governor who are the party stalwarts have continued to react to the allegation against Mu’azu insisting that he was not a PDP member but a member of the board of trustees.
In his reaction, the Publicity Secretary, Ahmed Mu’azu Campaign Organisation for PDP National chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Dawa Chali,? yesterday,? in Bauchi? cautioned Burga and the executive council to stop overheating the polity at this critical period in the nation.
