No fewer than 12 people have been killed while 10 were seriously injured following a ghastly road accident involving two vehicles at Zubo Village , 26 km away from Azare in Bauchi State.
Confirming the incident to journalists, the Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC),? Mr. Mamman Zakariya,? said the accident occurred when a Toyota bus marked AE 108 FTA collided with a Honda car marked? AE 499 DKU.
The sector commander added that about 22 people were involved in the accident just as those who lost their lives included a couple and their two children.
The remains of those who died? and the injured ones were said to have been conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre Azare by the Road? Safety while the two vehicles involved were damaged beyond repairs.
Mamman attributed the cause of the accident to reckless and dangerous driving, saying that it was regrettable that motorists would engage in reckless driving in spite of? the? FRSC’s frequent publicity during the yuletide on the need to drive safely.
He therefore called on road users to always respect traffic rules and regulation, saying that the FRSC was ready? to deal with erring drivers.
