The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), and Nigeria ?Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) have ordered their members in the 36 states of the federation to ignore a purported court order and join the nationwide strike declared by the NLC and TUC.
The three Unions,?affiliates of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in? separate statements made available to LEADERSHIP? claimed that they are not aware of the said court order restraining the organised labour from going ahead with it general strike.
SSANU President, Comrade Samson Ugwoke said: “We are not aware, NLC is not aware that they went to court because we were not consulted; we were not served or been in court. A reasonable and sensible jurist will ask for the accused. It is a one party affair.
He said the union is “surprised to hear that the action is illegal. How can it be illegal for me as a Nigerian to express myself? To say it is illegal is making mockery of the Constitution.
Comrade Ugwoke also enjoined all members of the union to? join the?general strike in their respective jurisdictions.”
