Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of? Edo has assured the people of the state of a possible resolution of the removal of fuel Subsidy face-off between the Federal Government and the organised labour.
Oshiomhole gave the assurance when he received the leadership of the labour led by the Chairman of NLC in the state, Mr Emmanuel Adermokun, in Benin on Monday.
Adermokun submitted their complaint to the governor for onward submission to the Presidency.
Oshiomhole, who commended the labour leadership for the peaceful conduct of the protest, said it was their right to hold peaceful protest.
He, however, advised the leadership not to allow certain persons to cause disunity among the people of the state, saying “we are already united by poverty.
“I want to plead with my colleagues not to allow those with other political, religious and ethnic motives divide our people.”
Oshiomhole used the occasion to reassure the people of the state of their safety, saying: “every Nigerian has the right to live and reside anywhere within Nigeria.
“I want to reassure the people of the state of their safety because I am also aware of their pains. I am also optimistic of the fact that government and labour have the capacity to resolve the crisis internally without any outside interference.”
“Nobody can divide us and please don’t give up as we are already united by poverty.”
Eralier, Ademokun told the governor that they were in government house to submit their resolution against the removal of the fuel subsidy.
He said: “we will continue to go out on the street until government listens to our cries.”
