Organised labour in conjunction with civil society organisations has called for the prosecution of those who killed innocent citizens during the on-going protest against the removal of fuel of subsidy.
This was contained in statements?? signed by the officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
NLC Head of Information, Chris Uyot said that it has started a legal process with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to bring the culprits to book.
The NLC in the statement commended workers and the Nigerian people for their support and commitment to the fight against the astronomical increase in the price of petrol.
“The general strike and mass protests yesterday was very successful, with a large number of Nigerians coming out to show their feelings against the insensitivity and callousness of the Federal Government in increasing petrol prices from N65 per litre to N141 and N250,’’ the statement said.
It added, “It was regrettable that some Nigerians were reportedly injured and killed in cold blood? in Kano and Lagos.
