Chelsea will demand a decision from Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill on the five-and-a-half year contract worth ?22 million they have offered in the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Mirror.
Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas, along with the club’s chief executive Ron Gourlay, is reportedly running out of patience with the England centre-back and is ready to move on to other targets if a deal cannot be completed soon. The ?7 million fee for the 26-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, was agreed two weeks ago. The report claims there have been no rival bids from Manchester United or Manchester City, but Cahill continues to delay and met the Bolton manager, Owen Coyle, and chairman, Phil Gartside, on Wednesday. Chelsea is keen to reinforce their defence due to the likely departure of Brazil international Alex, who handed in a transfer request in December.
