Maj.-Gen. Lawrence Ngubane, the Chief of Training and Operations, Nigerian Army, has led a team of officers to Damaturu to assess the security challenges in Yobe State.

He told Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam during a courtesy call that the assessment tour was in preparation for the deployment of soldiers to check the security challenges in the state.

“We had already visited Bauchi, Gombe and Potiskum. We will proceed from Damaturu to Maiduguri and Yola to assess what is on ground.”

Ngubane commended the Yobe State Government for its cooperation and partnership with security agencies to promote peace and security in the area.

Responding, Gaidam said the visit would afford government and the army the opportunity to exchange ideas toward establishing a lasting peace and security in the state.

He expressed support for the state of emergency declared by the Federal Government in five local government areas in the state, and promised his administration's commitment to the protection of lives and property.

He urged security agencies in the state to intensify efforts in ensuring the safety of the citizenry, and assured them of his administration's support.
