As more Nigerians continue to react to the subsidy removal by the Federal Government, a chieftain of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Ibrahim Masari, yesterday, accused the President Goodluck Jonathan administration of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians
He said the current strike and protests which has led to loss of lives grounded the economy could have been avoided if the president had heeded the calls of Nigerians who rejected the move for subsidy removal.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP SUNDAY in Abuja, Masari said it was unfortunate that the Jonathan administration removed the subsidy without providing the necessary palliative measures that should cushion the devastating effects of the policy and that the protest had made the country to loose billions of Naira.
He noted that the situation had only inflicted more pain on Nigerians, stressing that the government cannot claim ignorance of the difficulties being faced by Nigerians.
He said, “The president should listen to the voice of the people. He made a serious blunder by not consulting widely and more importantly sensitising the populace before implementation of the subsidy removal”.
