Bauchi State Governor Malam Isa Yuguda has promised to offer political appointments and jobs to the 152 former members of the dreaded ‘sara suka’ gang in the state who renounced their membership and surrendered their weapons.?
The governor who made the promise during the formal renunciation of the ex- thugs at the state police headquarters commended them for the decision, adding that they will now become useful citizens of the society.
He said a two-week induction training will be organised for the repentant thugs after which some of them will be appointed as personal assistants to the governor while others will be engaged in skill acquisitions and as vigilant groups; so that they will be empowered to help security agents in alleviating crime rate in the state.
Yuguda who appealed to other hoodlums who still terrorise the people to desist from their nefarious activities vowed that they and their sponsors will not be condoned.
Earlier, the state Police Commissioner Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba attributed the youths’ decision to surrender their weapons to the police consistent given with the enlightenment and advice to them to shun violence; stressing that no meaningful development could be recorded without peace.
The Police boss asked the repentant thugs to assist the command to bring down the criminal level in the state by providing them with useful information.
Meanwhile, Aduba has paraded about 16 suspects who vandalised the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu during the protest of subsidy removal.
The CP said investigation is ongoing after which the suspects will be charged to court.
