Some members of the sacked state executive of the Change Advocacy Party (CAP) in Bayelsa State? have asked the state High Court in Yenagoa to declare as illegal the processes that led to the emergence of? Dr. Imuro Kubor as the candidate of the party in the February 11 governorship election in the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the executive of the party in the state was sacked by the national leadership and replaced with another for the conduct of the primaries that led to the emergence of the flag bearer.
But the sacked state executive committee members? in a suit before the State High Court asked the Court to declare their suspension illegal and the emergence of Imuro Kubor as unconstitutional.
They also included as defendants in the suit,? the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The aggrieved executive members include the former Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Christopher Tengi and twelve others.
A copy of the suit which was dated December 12, 2011 and made available to LEADERSHIP in Yenagoa? showed that they based their prayers on the ground that the national leadership of the party failed to conduct a state congress before selecting Kubor as a candidate.
They also claimed that Kubor was selected without the knowledge of the state executive committee; an act they said was contrary to the party’s constitution.
