Governor Godswill Akpabio, of Akwa Ibom State yesterday described the? spate of insecurity in the country as a great challenge to the collective freedom of the people.
He stated this in his address during the laying of wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which was the hallmark of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at Uyo Cenotaph.
Represented by his deputy, Mr. Nsima Ekere, the Governor said that the present level of insecurity in the country has left a mark of shame on national polity with people dying as a result of bombings in parts of the country.
Chief Akpabio noted that the Nigerian soldiers have remained steadfast and committed to the peace and unity of the country.
“Today’s occasion is different because we are not only mourning our departed gallant soldiers but also the dead and the maimed in the series of bomb explosions? that has rocked our land in recent times which has brought shame and disgrace to the nation ”, Akpabio said.
