Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi wants his team to train in Nairobi, Kenya, for two weeks leading to a Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda on February 29.
Chairman technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chris Green, disclosed this after a three-hour meeting with Keshi and his assistants.
“We have received the programme of the Eagles from the team chief coach Stephen Keshi. We shall look at the programme, but I can tell you that they are proposing a 14-day camping in Kenya for acclimatisation.
“As you already know the game will be played on high altitude in Kigali. We are yet to approve where the team would camp but we are also toying with a plan B that would see the team arrive Kigali a day to the game, play the next day and then leave the next day.
Everything will be done to ensure that the Eagles get the right preparation to kick start their 2013 Nations Cup qualifier.”
The home-based Eagles will reopen training camp in Abuja on February 6 prior to a friendly against Liberia on February 15 in Monrovia. Keshi’s full list of invitees is to be announced at least two weeks to the match in Rwanda.
