Despite the suspension of the nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has deployed its personnel to various parts of the capital city.
Speaking to Journalists in Abuja yesterday, the Commandant, FCT Command, Mr. Rabe Saidu, said that the move was to ensure that they discourage violence and allow peace to reign.
He said, “We deployed over 3000 men to strategic places in the FCT so that everybody can go on with their normal businesses and they can behave well without any breach of law and order. Secondly, we also deployed our men to government offices so that they can be saved from vandalisation.”
Saidu urged Nigerians to always corporate with the NSCDC and report any negative actions they see, as their men are all over the place.
He commended his officers and men for the rule they played during the strike proper, urging them to put more efforts in order to give the corps a good name.
