The Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Zakari Angulu, has presented a proposed budget of N3.8 billion budget for 2012 to the council’s legislative arm for considerations and passage.
Angulu explained that 61 per cent of the proposed amount was for capital expenditure while recurrent expenditure was 39 per cent and added that infrastructure development would be given priority.
He also said renovation of Health Care Centres, roads and bridges, electrification, provision of primary schools and boosting of agriculture will also be given adequate consideration.
“Based on the current formula in budgetary planning and provision, a medium-term development and expenditure plan has been adopted to cover 2012 and 2015 for Gwagwalada Area Council.
“This will cover virtually all areas that are considered vital to the development of our people and also ensure even development across the wards of the council,” he said.
The Speaker of the council, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed, commended the executive arm for the prompt presentation of the budget and expressed the hope that when passed, it would enhance speedy development of infrastructure in the council and urged the Councillors to accord it priority.
