Security operatives yesterday morning rescued the kidnapped female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and her visitor at Udoga community in Etche local government area of Rivers State.
LEADERSHIP recalls? that unknown gunmen had on Monday night kidnapped serving members of the NYSC) and their visitor from the place of their primary assignment at a school in Udoga-Etche.
The security operatives included men of the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, men of the Rivers State Police Command and men of the State Security Service (SSS).
Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Tukur Buratai said the team that rescued the kidnapped victims also arrested some suspects believed to have a hand in the ugly incident.
Buratai disclosed that the hoodlums initially kidnapped three NYSC members and their visitor, but two of the corps members managed to escape while the kidnappers went away with the two others.
He stated that it was the two escaped victims that helped security agents in locating the hideout of the hoodlums.
