Following the controversy trailing the emergence of Hon. Seriake Dickson as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Human Rights Writers’ Association of Nigeria, (HURIWA) has petitioned chairman of the National Judicial Council (NJC), Justice Dahiru Musdapher, alleging injustice.
From a copy of the petition obtained by LEADERSHIP SUNDAY over the weekend, HURIWA challenged the National Judicial Council to probe reports that Justice G. K. Olotu of the Federal High Court, Abuja granted a late night ex-parte order aimed at compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Henry Dickson as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the coming February guber poll.
Part of the petition read:? “We are approaching the National Judicial Council to probe the report that a judge of the Federal High Court, in the Abuja Division Justice G. K. Olotu granted a late night ex-parte order aimed at compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognize Henry Dickson as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the coming February election even without putting the affected party on notice.
“Our findings revealed that even when a lawyer representing Governor Timipre Sylva, an interested party showed up and prayed to be heard, the presiding Judge allegedly drove him out of her Chamber where she issued the late night injunction.
