A pharmacist, Mr Ernest Udensi on Monday urged the federal and state governments to intensify exploitation of alternative healthcare to provide cheaper services.
“Government should exploit the potential of unorthodox medical treatment in providing cheaper healthcare for the people,” Udensi said.
He said that had become necessary in view of the high cost of goods and services, including medicines, resulting from the increase in the price of fuel.
The pharmacist said that alternative healthcare would be more desirable in the rural areas which are more affected by poverty and diseases.
Udensi said that petrol was significant to any economy, noting that the increase in its price had reduced the purchasing power of Nigerians.
He advised the Federal Government to urgently implement policies that would reduce the pains brought about by the petrol price increase.
“The Federal Government should deploy funds to driving projects that are capable of bringing long-term health benefits to the populace,” he urged.
