The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Plateau said on Monday that it would invite the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to investigate the activities of its suspended Chairman, Mr Amos Gizo.
“Gizo has refused to hadover relevant documents to the party since his suspension last month. He is not prepared to render any account in respect of his stewardship,” the Acting Chairman, M James Haruna said.
Haruna, who spoke in Jos, accused Gizo of “shoddy deals? and some anti-party activities in an effort to cover up his tracks”.
“If he continues to push us around, we will invite the EFCC to investigate his activities,” Haruna threatened.
The Acting Chairman claimed that Gizo had “a lot to answer in the areas of finances of the party, but said that the new team had been patient with him.
“We are giving him a long rope to sort himself out. If he fails, he will have himself to blame.
“We have made enquiries, especially on what happened to the proceeds from the sales of nomination forms for last April’s general elections, as well as what was contributed by friends and sympathisers of ACN.”
He accused Gizo of using various devices to distract the leadership of the party from preparing for the forthcoming local government polls in the state.
Haruna warned, “The antiparty activities of Gizo will only worsen his case and probably earn him a sack from the party”
Gizo has, however, denied all the allegations levelled against him, and declared that he was not afraid of any investigation.
“I am not afraid to face the EFCC. My hands are clean,” he said.
Gizo blamed his suspension from the party on “lies” allegedly concocted by some groups that did not mean well for him and the party and declared that posterity would exonerate him.
