The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Tuesday expressed support for the March 2 date slated for the burial of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
Chief Ifeanacho Oguejiofor, the party’s National Director of Publicity, said in Abuja on Tuesday that the shift in date was necessary due to security challenges in the country.
“Ojukwu’s burial will not be a small ceremony in view of the caliber of people who are willing to attend.
“Many groups have also indicated their interest in the burial hence the committee has deemed it fit for the ceremony to be shifted.
“Our party will always support any programme and adjustment that would make the burial ceremony of our late leader a successful one.”
On the ongoing dialogue between ASUU and Federal Government, Oguejiofor called on both parties to shift grounds to ensure amicable resolution to the seven-week old strike.
He cautioned that ASUU demands should not be seen as too much for the government to yield to, advising government to prioritise education.
“I equally appeal to ASUU to shift ground in their demands to ensure amicable resolution of the crisis.”
