The Arewa Youths Forum (AYF) yesterday urged the? acting Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mr. Mohammed Dikko Abubakar to be more responsive and proactive to security issues in all parts of the country.
The forum in a statement in Kaduna, charged the new IGP to perform better than his immediate predecessor who? failed to live up to the expectation of Nigerians.
In the statement signed by the National President, Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu and made available to LEADERSHIP, the group called on Nigerians to rally round the police with a view to achieving ultimate peace in the country.
AYF? described the new Police boss as a detribalized Nigerian who had held? sensitive positions in the Police and was never found wanting, pointing out that his zeal, discipline and tact in administration? were enough credentials to ensure a successful tenure and crime free Nigeria.
“We are also appealing and would not relent in appealing to the Federal Government and the Boko Haram sect to see reason to sit down on a round table for dialogue.
Nigeria belongs to all of us and we should not allow any outside forces to come in and destabilize us,” they said.
Commenting on the coordinated bombing of Kano city recently, AYF said it would soon visit the? city to condole the government and people of the state.
