Former military head of state, General Yakubu Gowon has said that suicide bomb attacks in parts of the country are the handiwork of foreigners who infiltrated the ranks of a radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
Gowon, who disclosed this on Thursday night in Port Harcourt while speaking at a dinner organised by a religious group, Christ the Redeemer’s Friends Universal (CRFU), called on Nigerians to cooperate with security operatives to enable them work harder and fish out those foreigners.
He said, “Suicide bombings, which Boko Haram now uses to attack and destroy lives and property in parts of the country is never in the character of Nigerians. The suicide bombings are being carried out by foreigners who have infiltrated the system.
“Nigerians need to cooperate with security operatives, especially military personnel to secure the border cities and villages and work harder to fish out these infiltrators.”
