President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday arrived Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the African Union summit, where he is expected to be elected as the new chairman of the Union, a position that had already been zoned to West Africa.
The president who? arrived Addis Ababa International Airport alongside his wife, Patience and some top government officials at about 3.30pm Nigerian time, was received by top government officials and representatives of the Nigerian community in Ethiopia.
While in Addis Ababa,? Jonathan is expected to present a paper to the summit of NEPAD Heads of State.
He is also expected to present another paper on the theme of the AU summit which is “Boosting Intra-African Trade.”
The President will also be present at the inauguration of the new AUC Conference and Office Complex.
He will also attend a banquet to be hosted by the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Ato Meles Zenawi.
First lady, Dame Patience is also billed to attend all the programmes outlined for African First Ladies.
Heads of governments of West African countries are already routing for Jonathan to emerge the chairman.
Jonathan and his delegation are expected back in Nigeria on Monday.
