The remains of the mother of Senator Philip Aduda, Chief Jummai Taminu Aduda, were laid to rest yesterday at Karu in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). This was preceded by a funeral service at the National Christian Centre, also in Abuja.
During the service, Bishop of Lokoja Anglican Diocese, Arch Bishop Emmanuel Igbonuno delivered a sermon titled, ‘The Value of Human Life,’ while the text was taken from Matthew 20: 1-16.? “Mama Aduda lived a purposeful and fulfilled life; she felt her position and possession should be used as a bridge for those who do not have. She had a heart for the orphans, widows and the grassroots people. She lived and touched lives of those the society tends to forget. In fact, she was an emancipator of the women, and lived out the life of a bishop’s wife as she was submissive and supportive to her husband and his ministry,” the bishop said.
In a goodwill message, President Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented by the special adviser on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Joy Emordi, and the minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, stated that, “Mama Jummai Aduda left a strong legacy for us to emulate; her philanthropic work will not be forgotten. I pray that the family would have the grace to bear the irreparable loss, and for God to guide the family.”
Also, Senate President David Mark, in a goodwill message said, “While we grieve as Christians, our aim is to be with the Lord as Mama has gone to be with the Lord. On behalf of the National Assembly, I condole with the Aduda family. They should have the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Among those who were present at the funeral service were members of the Federal Executive Council, National Assembly, state governors and captains of industry.?
