Kogi State Acting Governor, Hon. Abdullahi Bello on Monday, sacked the cabinet he inherited from the immediate past governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.
In a statement issued through his Special Assistant on Media, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Amoka, the acting governor said he was administered with the Oath of office by the Chief Judge of Kogi State on the 27th of January, 2012, in line with the letters of the constitution.
He assured the people of the state that he would not embark on any act that would be seen to be an affront on the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The acting governor therefore relieved the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff and all other political appointees of their appointments with immediate effect.
Hon. Bello directed the affected officers to hand over all government properties in their possession to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior staff in their respective ministries or departments.
He equally t directed all security agencies in the state to provide adequate security measures for the protection of lives and property ,as well sustain the existing peace in the state.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up around the metropolis and its environs, even as tension now reaches fever pitch, following rumour making the rounds that the acting governor was being pressured to relinquish his position.
His kinsmen from the central axis of the state are spoiling for war, threatening that any attempt to push the acting governor out illegally would be met with “fire”.
