The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has fixed February 9 for? the trial of? former Kano State????????? Governor Ibrahim Shekarau? and some other public officers who are being? accused of false assets? declaration .
The CCT had claimed that the actions of the errant public officers were contrary to Section 15 of Code of Conduct Bureau/Tribunal Act Cap 56 of 1990 as amended.
The hearing of the case was initially fixed for January but was shifted due to the nationwide strike by the organised Labour to protest the fuel subsidy removal.
Others expected to be arraigned alongside Shekarau? include twin brothers,? Hussaini and Hassan Suleiman Kangiwa , who were comptroller of Immigration and Comptroller of Customs respectively and? Olusola? Aina of Border Communities Development Agency,? Abuja.
Others are the former Managing Director of Akwa Ibom Water Company Limited,? Bassey Ating, former Accountant General of Kogi State, Chief Ubolo? Okpanachi, and former Chairman, Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Muhammad S. Fawa Mahuta.
Should the Tribunal finds any of the accused persons guilty of contravening? any of the provisions of the Code of Conduct Act on corrupt malpractice ,it might impose upon such officer any punishment which include vacation of office, disqualification from? holding public office, and seizure and forfeiture to the state of any property acquired in abuse or corruption of office.
