In its bid to reduce the rate of crime in the country, the Zone X1 of the Nigeria Police Force in conjunction with an Abuja-based security firm,Absolute Security and Consultancy Services Limited, has trained no fewer than 300 members? of? the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) of Osun State command on community policing.
Addressing the participants at the seminar ,the head of Zone X1 Police ,Mr. Johnson Uzu-Egbunam stated that the issue of? security should be? the joint responsibility of Nigerians, saying that it should not be left in the hands of security agents alone.
Mr Uzu-Egbunam said that the modern policing that was? regarded as community policing involved partnering with all segments of the society.
He added that community policing was based on trust, openness and transparency which entails individuals coming together to work for a common purpose of enhancing security in our society.
