Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has restated the commitment of his administration to the conduct of free and fair local government council elections.
Obi made this pledge when a delegation from the Justice Development and Peace Commission, Civil Society Organization and Media Policy Advocacy Network paid him a visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Anambra State.
The governor recalled that efforts by his government to conduct the election in 2009 was frustrated through court action by those who, he said, claimed that the conduct of the election would give him advantage in the 2010 governorship election, while another arrangement for the election was equally stopped by the same people using the non-review of the voter register as an excuse.
