The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Wednesday solicited the support of the military in addressing the current security challenges in the country.
Abubakar made the appeal when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin and other service chiefs at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
He said that the police alone could not secure the nation adequately without the support of the military.
“I want to be a successful Inspector-General of Police who will ensure a secured nation and build a police force that is effective, efficient and respected as the peoples’ police.’’
In his remarks, Petinrin congratulated Abubakar on his appointment and assured him of the cooperation of the military in the task of ensuring national security.
Petinrin noted that task of securing the nation required the cooperation of all stakeholders, adding that they would support him to build on the foundation already laid by his predecessors.
