The Delta State Government has promised the management of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) that the state will, as a matter of urgency, commence the implementation of the Stamp Duty Act.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Ovuozuorie Macaulay, made the promise yesterday in Asaba when the Area Manager of NIPOST in Delta State, Mrs Adeniyi Adedoyin, paid him a courtesy visit.
Macaulay said that an Act was a national law binding on every citizen of the country, adding that the Stamp Duty Act was no exception.
He also assured the NIPOST management that the issue of the portal cabin for the office in the state would be sorted out as well as other issues that the state could help the service in tackling.
He gave the assurance of government’s continuous support and cooperation, and said, “Delta has been of assistance to other Federal Government Agencies, NIPOST will not be an exemption.’’
Earlier the Area Manager, Adedoyin, had told the SSG that the purpose of the visit was to draw the attention of the state to the Stamp Duty Act.
