As part of efforts to solve the country’s fuel needs and reduce its dependence on importation of finished petroleum products,Gabovies Oil and Gas , yesterday blaced the trail by turning the sod on the building of a new refinery in Badagry area of Lagos? State.
Fielding questions from Journalists, Mr. Ganiyu Bolaji Davies said the need to build refineries in the country could not be overemphasised, saying proliferation of refineries in the country would move the country gradually from depending on petroleum subsidy.?
The Gabovies Oil and Gas boss lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for giving the private sector the opportunity to contribute its quota in the country’s resolve to move away from the old practice which has bled the country’s coffers.
He opined that the much talked about fraudulent payment on phoney imports of PMS could be averted if the country can refine its crude locally , noting that the present price of petrol could be crashed if the nation has enough refineries
He said the refinery was being built in Badagry, Lagos State in conjunction with some foreign partners, pointing out that the State governments could join private enterprises to build new refineries and run them commercially.
The Journalist turned businessman, noted that a refinery has the capacity to employ so many people, saying thousands of jobs could be created by building refineries.
