The Kano State Joint Security Task Force raised in the wake of recent security challenges arising from Boko Haram threats has said that government is willing to dialogue with members of the Boko Haram to bring lasting peace in the state and the country at large.
The Director of the State Security Service (SSS), Kano State Command, Mr Bassey Eteng, said this? yesterday? during? a press conference? at the SSS office in Kano.
He added that the country’s security personnel were not taking the Boko Haram issue as a one track approach, saying , however, that the government was? amenable to dialogue? to ensure that? peace reigns supreme all over the federation.
According to him,? the Task Force,? comprising? Military, Police and the SSS? is in compliance with President Goodluck Jonatha’s remark that government was ready to engage the sect members in a dialogue so long as they would? identify themselves.
He urged? the sect members? to? accept the president’s truce for dialogue and end the feud in the interest of peace and stability.
The director, who said the sect members should come out? and show their identity,? said government would be ready to engage them in dialogue. He said, “ provided they will show their identity, we will engage them in dialogue as President Jonathan stated.”
On his part, the spokesperson of the task force Lt. Iweha? Ikedichi, said that? Kano State? government and? many other well meaning Nigerians were seeking for dialogue with members of the sect? to cease fire in the interest of peace.
