Activities in Yola, the Adamawa State capital was yesterday put on hold as dignitaries? from all walks of life, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,? Governor Danbaba Suntai, Dr. Shetima Mustapha, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur among other stalwarts of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) stormed the state to witnessed the swearing in ceremony of Governor? Murtala Myako? for the second term which took place at Ribadau square in Jimeta Yola.
The oath was administered to both Governor Nyako and his deputy, Barrister Bala Ngillari by the state acting chief Judge, Justice Batimawus Law who was assisted by the Grand Khadi, Justice Nuhu Bobboi.
The oath was first administered on the deputy governor at about 12:40 pm, followed by that of the governor who took his turn at about 12:51 pm.
Addressing? the mammoth crowd who gathered at the event shortly before the oath taking, the state acting governor who is also the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, described the event as a water shed? in the political development of the state.
Umaru Fintiri noted that when the mantle of leadership was bestowed on him, there was a genuine concern to either or not ensure that the election was successfully conducted under the fragile security situation in the state, but he did his best to restore the hope of the people by guaranteeing the protection of their lives and property and today, he had been vindicated by conducting an election widely adjudged to be free, fair and transparent.
