Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, has urged Turkish investors presently in the country to seek investment in the nation’s power sector to identify their areas of interest and begin projects of their choice immediately.
The minister stated this when he received a high powered delegation of Turkish investors led by the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Ali Rifat Koksal, in his office in Abuja yesterday.
The delegation comprised of captains of Turkish industrial giants accompanied by the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey, Ahmed Mallammadori, a former minister of State for Power.
Nnaji told the visitors that the present administration would want investors to clearly identify what they intend to do and begin work without delay, pointing out that existing templates in the sector make things simpler and easier for prospective investors.
He informed that the power sector would become a veritable brand ambassador for Nigeria in three years given the attention government was paying to restore sanity to the sector.
While informing that the ministry has already established ground rules for the sector, Nnaji urged the team to understudy and decide their area of comparative advantage and start breaking ground immediately.
“Identify what you want to do, you can begin a new project of your own or get involved in an ongoing one”, Nnaji told the delegation.
He informed them that General Electric of the United States had indicated readiness to construct 10,000MW of electric power plant in Nigeria and advised that any other investors could key into the GE project.
